Nurge Spring embroidery hoops keep needlework projects taut and smooth. The hoop has two parts- a plastic ring and a metal ring that flexes and can be fitted into the groove on the plastic ring. Super easy to use, spring tension hoops eliminate the need to tighten screws, but can be quite firm as they need to keep the fabric taut. . Lay your fabric over the outer hoop, give the inner hoop a squeeze and gently set it inside the inner hoop.
The spring hoop can be used for hand embroidery or machine embroidery as the slender design makes it easier to place the ring under the freehand foot of the machine.

I'm an experienced cross-stitcher (over 30 years) but recently new to using a hoop as I have always used a floor-standing frame. But having several WIP's I thought I would try using a hoop. I've tried bamboo and plastic hoops but found them hard to use, as I have arthritis in my hands and find tightening the screw too difficult. But this spring tension hoop is great to use and so easy. It does need a strong grip, but once you get the hang of it, it is easy to use. It's more expensive than bamboo or plastic, but for me, it's well worth the difference in cost.
