Ashford Mulberry Silk Sliver - 100gm Bag
Mulberry silk is pure white and is from silkworms fed on Mulberry leaves. Silk is pure luxury.
Silk has many qualities. As well as its natural sheen, it is strong, resistant to pilling, and the long fibres make it easy to spin.
It looks stunning when dyed and blends beautifully with other fibres.

Published Friday, 11 October 20245 out of 5This silk is an absolute pleasure to spin although it took me a while to get used to the length of the fibres... once it starts to twist there's no chance of drawing it out! I would recommend anyone trying to spin this for the first time watch a couple of online videos - these were extremely helpful. 2 main tips for me were to break off about 300mm of the roving at a time and split that in half lengthwise. Wonderful fibre and can't wait to dye it next although it is also delicious as it comes - silvery-white?? The bags look small but it is surprising how much yarn each bag spins - almost a bobbin per bag. Irresistible stuff - will be buying more for sure!
