Historic British Needlework from Phillipa Turnbull
Jacobean Hunt is a replica of an original 1660s design in our private collection. The strong colours are accurate to the unfaded wools on the reverse side of the linen on the original pillow and the stitches, lack of scale, and the profusion of content are all typical of late 17th Century British crewel work.
This design is also featured in Inspirations Magazine's "Passion for Needlework" Factoria VIII.

Stitches: Bayeaux, Brick, Laid and Couched Work, Closed Fly Stitch, French Knots, Leaf, Crewel Stem, Satin, Long and Short as "soft shading", Seeding, and Raised Satin.
